Take your jumping unit from bland to a gourmet with these "Mission Im-PASTA-ble" stations.
🍝 🍴 This lesson is just the appetizer before our “Jump Rope Ninja’s” Week!
Before handing my students a jump rope, I always practice jumping form & using these “I’m-PASTA-ble” stations made it so much fun! I want ALL of my students to be successful. Having them jump at these stations makes it so easy to spot and help the students in need.
To go along with the theme… I told one of my favorite “kid” jokes to all of my classes. What do you call a fake noodle? - An IMPASTA!
Huge shout out to special guests @briannanewkirk11 & @jazywebgem8 for their stunning performances. They make every day fun! 🤩
Check out this video to see how I teach some of my jump rope progressions.
Jump Roping can be very complex.
It comes easy to some and seems impossible to others. I’ve broken down the skills and this is what seems to work best for me when i’m teaching my students how to jump rope.
Practice in order:
Swing
Jump
Jump to Swing
Swing to Jump to Swing
Repeat!
Let's get you set up to turn your students into Jump Rope Ninjas!
Directions:
Each student works with a partner. They share one jumprope. Everyone begins at white belt.
While one partner jumps, the other counts how many jumps they've completed.
If they reach the number required to earn their belt, they must BOTH come tell me and the partner who earned it can write their name on the poster.
I trust them to be just "check in" with me before writing it until RED.
Once they reach Red, Brown, & Black Belt I count for them to ensure they're jumping consecutively and correctly.
I leave a 5 minutes at the end of class. At this time I have the students sit in a straight line. I call out each bead color and say "Who earned WHITE today?", etc until all the beads are handed out. Then I write out any black belt awards, we clap, and celebrate all of their achievements of the day!
If we have a minute or two left, I allow the best jumpers in the class to demonstrate their ninja skills for the rest of the class.
MY FAVORITE PART of this unit is watching my students help each other learn. The smiles on their faces when they can physically see that they taught someone a new skill is aboslutely incredible!
My physical education students have been showing so much grit and determination. They are so focused the entire class because they want to conquer each belt and level up to the next one!
I am SO impressed with their self motivation this year. It’s so awesome to see their improvement throughout the week!

This Includes:
11- "Mission Im-PASTA-ble" Station Signs
9- "Jump Rope Ninja" signs (Print 2 copies so you can hang one on your poster and place one in an area where they'll be jumping.
